Elementary School (K-5)

College View Academy has existed in the Lincoln community for 125 years. The elementary school is a safe and nurturing learning environment where children from kindergarten to 5th grade experience age-appropriate opportunities to explore, learn and serve.

Families work together with teachers and administration to ensure that children feel known and appreciated for their individual gifts and personalities.

Your elementary school student will be in a classroom where widely accepted childhood development and brain-based learning research as well as the latest teaching methods are used to foster the cognitive and social development of each child. Our highly trained teachers prepare children for success.

Walking Club
It's time for Walking Club! Mrs. Finch's class participates in a walking club each morning for 10-15 minutes. Walking is an easy, fun, and inexpensive activity that all students can participate in to develop healthy habits and get the wiggles out! Although it's called Walking Club, there is running, skipping, and even rolling. Keep on moving second grade!

Students in grades 1-5 painted rocks with positive messages and then took a walk to Holmes Lake. They placed their precious rocks in places that they hoped would be seen by people that needed to see a positive reminder that Jesus loves them. The students prayed for these rocks before placing them and asked God to bless the people that needed an extra blessing.

Elementary students enjoy time outside each and every day! Fresh air and the freedom to play is an important part of learning.

Are ADHD rates rising because we send children to school at younger ages?

Every parent knows the difference a year makes in the development and maturity of a young child. A one-year-old is barely walking while a two-year-old gleefully sprints away from you. A four-year-old is always moving, always imagining, always asking why, while a five-year-old may start to sit and listen for longer stretches.

Children haven’t changed, but our expectations of their behavior have. In just one generation, children are going to school at younger and younger ages, and are spending more time in school than ever before. They are increasingly required to learn academic content at an early age that may be well above their developmental capability.
