A Note from PTSO:

Greetings CVA High School Parents,
Believe it or not another school year is upon us.  Hopefully you’ve gotten registered and are ready for another great year. Since we did not have an official registration this year, PTSO missed the opportunity to let parents sign up for the different ways you’d like to be involved with PTSO this year. Please know your help is still needed and much appreciated. What is PTSO? It is a Parent Teacher Student Organization that is a committee whose primary concern is to encourage parental involvement in activities which support school functions and goals. The vision is to support CVA students, parents and teachers in the following areas: Spiritual, Academic, Social, and Athletics. This is to develop opportunities for communication between teachers, parents and students and to provide opportunities for fellowship among the school community. Our next PTSO meeting is Sept 10. All meetings are open and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend and contribute ideas.
There are lots of different things going on this year and PTSO is a small part of the School Calendar. So please refer to the School Calendar for other events and activities this year.  Also if you have high school and grade school kids PTSO is for the high school activities and teacher/parent support and Home and School is for the grade school activities and teacher/parent support.
Our first PTSO event is the Annual Prayer Walk on Aug 11 at 4:00. Please come for a short worship talk in the multipurpose room and then be part of the prayer groups. Plan on praying for each teacher/classroom your child will be in, or in the ones you feel impressed to pray for.  If you are more comfortable you can break into small family groups or larger groups, most important is to come and pray for our school.
Our second PTSO event is the Work Bee Sunday Aug 12, 8-12:00. Plan on bringing some garden gloves for weeding the flower beds, and some general handy tools to be used on the maintenance list of fix it’s given to us by the teachers. Again this is a family event and if more people come we can be done sooner. Last year only a few people came, let’s all come and let our kids have some pride in making their school a better place.
Our third PTSO event is the Ski Vespers Aug 17 starting at 5:00 with water activities.  This will be at the Carlson’s lake. You will be getting a map in the mail soon. If you bring your map to the event write your name on the back and it will be put in the drawing for free Juice Stop or Taco Inn gift certificates. If you are a working parent and can’t be there by 5, don’t despair, J bring a salad, dessert, or fruit tray and join everyone for Blazer burgers, watermelon, and drinks around 6:30. Sundown vespers is coordinated by the new Student Association Officers. Again this is an event for the whole family.
Our forth PTSO event is the Ice Cream Social, Aug 19 at 6:30pm. Plan on bringing the whole family to College View Academy, and chill with friends while enjoying a cool treat. This is also a Home & School and PTSO event so it includes all students and families attending CVA PRE-K – 12th.
Our fifth PTSO event is Awards Recognition Ceremony, Aug 31, 9:37-9:57 at the CVA chapel. This is when awards will be given to students for Academic Achievement from last semester.  PTSO will let the parents of students who are receiving an award know so if you are able you are welcome to come to chapel that day. Even if you aren’t able to make it you will at least know your child was honored that day.
Our next PTSO event is the Farm Vespers, Sept 28 5-9pm at the Murray’s house. Even if you can’t get here by 5, you are welcome to bring a salad, chips or a fruit plate and join us for supper and worship. Again this is a family fun event with supper starting around 6:30. PTSO will be providing hot dogs, Sloppy Joes, cinnamon rolls and drinks. You will be receiving a map in the mail shortly. If you bring your map to the event write your name on the back and it will be put in the drawing for free Juice Stop or Taco Inn gift certificates.
Remember the all school Fall Festival, October 28, 4-8pm. It is located at the high school gym. PTSO will have a booth, so stop by and see us. Remember to come and support your school and have a great time with your family. Be sure to come hungry, there is always lots of yummy food to eat.
Well that is all for PTSO for the 1st semester.
Thank you!
